Carl Grieco uses the direct-carve method to create lyrical contemporary sculpture in marble and limestone. Apprenticed as a mason, and trained in ornamental plaster and ornate mold work, he uses his knowledge of the medium to build his synthetic cement pieces. Working intuitively, he attempts to involve the viewer in an emotional journey.  Although he has studied with Joseph Emilio Finelli of New York and Benevento Italy and Bernadette D’Amore of the Carving Studio in Vermont, Grieco is primarily self-taught. He is inspired by Henry Moore and Eduard Lanterii, and has pieces in private collections in New York, Massachusetts, California and Israel.
