Marilyn Grieco uses commercial and had-dyed fabrics, quilting, paint, beads, metal and found objects to create one-of-a-kind “canvases. Inspiration can be a particular fabric, or the way colors vibrate against one another, or a theme she wants to express. Stamps, stencils, hand and machine embroidery and dense machine-quilting are employed to add texture and interest.
Introduced to sewing at the age of 8, Marilyn taught herself to quilt as a young adult. Now she uses familiar techniques to express her thoughts. Her work continues to evolve and she says she is excited to see where textiles will lead her next!
