Rhinebeck Savings Bank is one of the oldest savings banks in New York State, serving Dutchess County and its outlying areas. Since 1860, the Bank’s practice has been to focus on what is important to them, their customers, employees and community.
2010 marks an important year for Rhinebeck Savings Bank as they celebrate 150 years in the business of banking. On April 12, 1860 Rhinebeck Savings Bank was incorporated as a mutual savings bank. Less than a month later, on Saturday, May 5, the doors were opened for business.
Throughout the years, Rhinebeck Savings Bank has remained a trusted source of financial security and community leadership. On April 12, 2010, exactly 150 years after their incorporation, Rhinebeck Savings Bank opened their 10th branch location in the Town of LaGrange. In addition to this branch opening, the Bank decided to mark its 150th anniversary with something meaningful to the mid-Hudson Valley – a year-long series of “random acts of kindness”… a means of giving back to the communities they serve.
“Given our long tradition of community involvement, and the tremendous human needs that exist today, it just seemed natural to focus our 150th anniversary observance on making our community a better place, rather than patting ourselves on the back,” said Michael J. Quinn, President and CEO.
Rhinebeck Savings Bank proudly supports numerous local organizations such as arts organizations, education programs, youth sponsorships, housing assistance, family services, economic development groups, and chambers of commerce, in addition to the United Way. The Bank’s employees are also committed to their communities by actively serving on local boards, volunteering countless hours and by participating in several key fundraising campaigns annually. Collectively, their community outreach efforts touch thousands of area residents and numerous organizations each year. In fact, Rhinebeck Savings Bank has contributed more than $1 million over the past five years to local community groups.
